This is a short note to let you know that I have added a new page (you can find the links to them on the right hand side menu column called “Is asking ‘what does X mean?’ a waste of time?”
This was prompted by recent encounters with the question during teaching practice observations and conversations with the trainees about its usefulness. I co-incidentally came across a post on Scott Thornbury’s blog about the related question “Do you understand?” which incited me to post this.
I’d be interested to hear what you think about my take on the issue, if you know what I mean 😉
